Nova Métis Heritage Assocation, at our AGM on November 28, 2021, passed a Resolution to discontinue the charter agreement with MNBC.
On October 23, 2021, MNBC through its Regional Governing Council in Region 2, resolved to discontinue the charter agreement with Nova Métis. After much deliberation within the Nova Métis Board, we decided to counter this decision and call the question as a Resolution to our members at our November 28, AGM, in summary: Does Nova Métis work to concede to the opinion of the MNBC RGC, or take this opportunity to renew and rebuild its Purpose, Mission, and Focus? The Nova Métis board did not enter into any of this lightly nor without due consideration and fiduciary responsibility of Nova Métis members.
For our Nova Métis members, we have tried to summarize the effect this will have in a list of possible questions and answers, this FAQ (frequently asked questions):
Q) How does this effect my Nova Métis or MNBC Membership?
This does not change your membership within Nova Métis, or your citizenship within MNBC. As Nova Métis will no longer be a chartered community with MNBC, the Nova Métis President or Vice President will no longer represent MNBC citizens at the MNBC MNGA.
Q) Can I still complete my MNBC membership and citizenship using my Nova Métis membership for community acceptance?
It is assumed by Nova Métis, MNBC will foster a transitionary period, where Nova Métis members will be accepted, until MNBC establishes a new charter community to assign the Region 2, Surrey and Delta, constituents into.
Q) Why did Nova Métis put forth the Resolution to discontinue the charter agreement with MNBC?
On October 23, 2021, MNBC through its Regional Governing Council in Region 2 (RGC 2), resolved to discontinue the charter agreement with Nova Métis. The Nova Métis Board felt it was our fiduciary responsibility to bring this as a question to our members. Nova Métis President, Harland Coles, wrote a response to the RGC which summaries some of the issues that converged to this outcome.
Q) How do I participate in this exciting new chapter with Nova Métis?
