Come and Celebrate with Nova Metis Families at our 1st Annual 10K Walk Finish-Line Picnic. Poster PDF
Date: Sunday, April 24, 2016 - from 12 Noon to 4 PM
Location: Green Timbers Park - 100 Avenue Entrance and Parking - then walk to picnic area, north-east of lake. Location Map, Park Area Map
On the day, the registered group of walkers with start at 10am to complete a 10km walk throughout the park and plan to finish at the picnic area by 12noon. Nova Metis families for the picnic will greet the walkers at the finish-line, then the walkers will do a 10minute cool-down. After which the festivities and food may begin. At 1230 we will award the walkers and give out some honorariums to volunteers. Food and drink will be available. We will have music and activities. You are welcome to bring any Metis traditional food to add to the enjoyment of all.
Please bring your own chair :) and maybe something for the April showers, although here is praying for some afternoon Sunshine ;) .
Please note the 10km walk portion of the day, is only for the registered walking group who have been participating for the past 12 weeks.

To all interested Nova members,
Kerry Marion, a director on Nova’s board, with Harland Coles, are leading an Aboriginal Run/Walk Program in partnership with SportMed BC and the Aboriginal Sport, Recreation and Physical Activity Council (ASRPA). Our version of this program is going to involve training for a 10K walk, leading up to a 10K walking event, which will tentatively take place on April 24th. The event will be open to all the registered participants, and we will also be hosting a post-event gathering for participants, their families and friends. Details to follow on the final event if you decide to become part of our walking group.
